Embrace Figureoutability!

Well, where have I been for the past month? I decided to take my own advice from December and put my money where my mouth is. I set goals and went about putting things into effect—or so I thought!

It was easy enough to plan. But the execution...wow!

What I neglected to mention in my previous blog post was that when you attempt to pursue your goals, you will meet with obstacles both literal and figurative, professional and personal, and sometimes they collide. It was easy to feel discouraged (and I was, for a moment). People kept telling me, " you'll figure it out," or asked me what I was going to do.

How could I figure things out? What if I told you that I discovered a mindset that could help navigate hurdles with confidence and optimism? Enter figureoutability-- the belief that no problem is insurmountable and that with determination and creativity, we can find a way to achieve our goals. WHAT IS FIGUREOUTABILITY? Figureoutability is a term coined by Marie Forleo, it is a mindset that empowers us to approach challenges with the belief that we can find a solution. It's the understanding that, even if we don't know how to solve a problem at the moment, we can figure it out with time, effort, and creativity. So I went back to my goals and objectives. I could not give you advice and not take it myself right?

I started with my SMART Objectives. I set an ambitious and very specific goal. With a figureoutability mindset, I had to believe that no problem was insurmountable so I aimed high and trusted that I would find a way to achieve my goal. Rather than setting a vague goal, I pinpointed exactly what I wanted to achieve, believing that I could figure out how to get there.

Then I measured my progress in order to assess whether my actions were getting me closer to my goal. With a figureoutability mindset, you have to believe that any obstacles you encounter along the way can be overcome. I developed a figureoutability mindset to help me approach challenges with optimism and creativity, which allowed me to explore different paths to achieving my goals. Throughout this process, I had to balance ambition with a grounded understanding of my current circumstances. In the meantime, I also pursued new skills and knowledge and sought resources and support to do this. This wasn’t easy because I am not a person to ask for help Figureoutability encourages you to set time-bound goals, believing that you can figure out how to achieve your goals within the timeframe you set. This appealed to me, as I like to work with deadlines. A figureoutability mindset helps you stay resilient, viewing setbacks as temporary hurdles rather than insurmountable obstacles. This allowed me to stay flexible and adaptable in my goal setting, trusting that I can figure out a way to achieve my desired outcomes. My new goal means that I have to face uncertainty but a figureoutability mindset helps me do this, seeing uncertainty not as something to fear, but as an opportunity to learn and grow.

So how can you use figureoutability? You can identify your passions, build new skills, network effectively, and stay resilient in the face of challenges. Embracing figureoutability can be transformative in your personal and professional lives. By believing in your ability to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals, you can set yourselves on a path to success. So let's embrace figureoutability, tackle challenges head-on, and create the life we want!
